Just as the Magi were guided by the Star of Bethlehem to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Mater Christi Classical Academy is guided to the Truth by the unchanging Doctrine and Dogma of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. We maintain steadfast fidelity to the Magisterium of Holy Mother Church as we pass on the Deposit of Faith to our students and their families. Our end is to colonize the City of God by the means of an authentic liberal arts education grounded in the Catholic Tradition.
Our efforts are best conveyed by the analogy of agriculture. We ourselves participate in this cultivation of virtues as we nurture our students’ inner landscape in preparation for the seeds of Truth to be sown by the Sower. Our labor is done by the tools known as the liberal arts of grammar, logic and rhetoric towards ends that are true, good and beautiful, and drawn from the excellent content of the perennial classics arising out of the rich intellectual and moral lands where Athens and Jerusalem meet.
Mater Christi Classical Academy intends to form the whole human person by the attainment of the moral, intellectual and physical virtues cultivated by the liturgy, academics, exercise and the fine arts in a wholesome atmosphere free from the distractions of the world. We heartily recognize parents as primary educators and commit to our task as assistants in the endeavor of our ultimate aim, which is nothing less than the imitation of Christ in communion with the saints.
To assist families in their mission to raise happy children through a center where children can meet, learn, pray and play growing in virtues and in the Catholic Faith, through a Classical approach rooted in the Tradition of the Church and faithful to the Magisterium.
To encourage children and families discover and embrace all that is True, Good and Beautiful, things that lead to real happiness on this earth and in Heaven.
To procure the salvation of souls, by inspiring a true love for our Lord, Our Lady and our beautiful Mother the Catholic Church.
We consider the parents to be the primary educators of their children. The family is a sanctuary where love and faith are learnt in a vivid way, and where virtues are developed. MCCA wants to assist families in this primary mission, by providing an environment where learning, friendships and virtues may be developed.
We have inherited an immense treasure through the Tradition of the Catholic Faith, passed down through generation after generation. We want to help pass along this infinite and precious treasure to our younger generations too.
We know that the life on this earth can be beautiful, but we understand it to be temporary, and the real life continues in Heaven. We have been created with an eternal destiny, and thus, the major goal in this life is to procure the salvation of our souls and of others. At MCCA our main goal is always to salvation of souls, seeking to love and embrace the Truth, and all that is Good and Beautiful.
The training of the mind with knowledge, and of the will through virtues as prudence, fortitude, generosity, service, etc, is essential for attaining a life of happiness on this earth despite all adversities that may arise during our lives.
Because we live in an era where secular education has expelled God from all public schools.
Because we see social consequences in the lack of values of secular education as increase in violence, bulling, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, suicide, etc.
Because we know many children loose their faith by the time they are 25 years old, we want to put a solid foundation.
Because parents are alienated from educating their children in the public school system.
Because ideology and political correctness has influenced the contents of what children learn in school, like history, literature, science, etc.
Because many materials the children get exposed to can pervert a children’s mind (library materials mainly).
Because parents are primary educators of their children, they are equipped by God to fulfil this role better than anybody else, as they love them most and wish them best, and know better than anybody their needs and challenges.
Because we want to help preserve the gift of faith and pass down the treasure of our Tradition and history, homeschooling makes that possible.
Because we want to spend time with our children and enjoy them, and see them grow closely, as time goes too fast.
Because we want to provide a good and safe environment for learning and developing friendships that are holy and positive when kids are more susceptible for good influences.
Homeschooled boys are 10 times more likely to consider a religious vocation than in a catholic school.
1 out of 10 seminarians in the US has been homeschooled at some point in their life.
Homeschooling just makes it easier to live a catholic life as a family.
We want our children to grow close to our Lord.
Why not?
Classical education takes us back to the basics: how to read, how to think, how to speak. These three skills are often referred to as “the three ways,” the trivium of grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Classical education focuses on inspiring students to read more, think about what they read, and communicate effectively about it.
It is called classical, as it looks back to Greco-Roman civilization and the Christian culture of the Middle Ages for inspiration, both in approach and in content matter, such as classical language. This approach does not focus primarily on practical outcomes as the goal, but the formation of mind. Ironically the approach has proven that it does prepare students well for their future. No matter what students will do for their careers, classical education gives general preparation through deep thinking, problem solving, and creative expression, which help them to excel.
